I know this thread can go in several different directions but I wanna discuss tobacco pipes. With there being so many options, I have no idea where to really start. I’m not a heavy smoker by any means but I like a good cigar every now and then and I’ve always liked the aroma of a pipe. Thinking about getting a Savinelli to start with as they seem to be middle of the road price wise. Needless to say, any help and guidance is greatly appreciated. Also let me know what your favorite tobacco is! Pics would be helpful too!!

Long time pipe puffer here. Savinelli’s are good pipes and I have several. Don’t look past their Rossi line if you want something even more budget friendly. Rossi is their 2nds brand but still very good quality and such. One of my favorite pipes is a Rossi.
For tobacco, it’s really hard to pick for someone else. There are literally a thousand blends and variations out there. My advice would be to go to a tobacco shop and ask questions about their various blends. Tell them what you are look for in a pipe tobacco. For a newbie I’d ask for a blend that is mild on the bite and with a good room note(aroma). Also, let your nose guide you - open all the bulk canisters one at a time and pick a few you like. You can buy several to start and go from there. 1 -2 oz of a blend is all you need to start with until you narrow down your favorites.
One bit of advice when starting down this path…It’s common for a new pipe puffer to smoke a bowl too fast. This will cause a very hot smoke and one that bites the tongue. It’ll turn you off from doing it long term. The goal for me is always a very long, cool smoke. Let your hand tell you if you’re smoking too fast. Meaning, if your pipe gets too hot to hold, you’re smoking too fast. Relighting a bowl multiple times isn’t always a certainty but it’s also completely normal.
Lastly, there’s an art to packing your pipe with tobacco. It takes time to find your rhythm but it will make a huge difference when done correctly. YouTube has countless videos on pipe smoking. Look up muttinchop pipe smoker to start.
Good luck with it.

Definitely go to a tobacco shop! Savinelli’s are good and seconds are a good option, I have one that is as good as pipes costing 4x as much. Get to know the folks at a tobacco shop and ask questions, you don't get the aroma when smoking as others do, don't know why this happens. Start with a milder blend and follow Randy's advice about smoking. Enjoy your pipes and relax when you smoke.
