Concerts at the Moody Center in Austin

Has anyone been to a concert at the Moody Center in Austin? I'm debating going to a Roger Waters show there in October. I hate his politics, but grew up listening to Pink Floyd and never had the opportunity to see them.

There are 2 shows in Texas and the other is in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. I don't know anything about this venue either.

It's been years since I have been to a concert in Moody. Honestly, pick the one that is closest or the city that you would most like to visit. The venues aren't going to be that different. And don't sweat the politics. If you like the music, go.

FTR, I never got a chance to see Pink Floyd with Roger and David but, I did get to see them without Roger and it was fantastic. Also got to see just David and that was great as well. In my mind, it is pretty clear who the more talented of the two is.

Thanks for the correction. I pretty much only go to Austin once a year now for the Cap10k.

Excellent outdoor venue. There’s a comfortable lawn that wraps around the back.

The concert will include lots of great PF classic songs. However, it will also feature 2+ hours of Waters insufferable political views where he goes scorched earth on Trump, American politics, and other World leaders. So, for $100 you'll see lots of theatrics, videos, and stage props pumping Waters' political views. People who watch CNN and enjoy Steven Colbert will thoroughly enjoy the show. If you're MAGA, you may leave early like a friend of mine did.

Not telling you what to do as I love a great concert. Just giving you a heads up on what you will witness.

Sadly, you just missed Brit Floyd who played Austin 2 weeks ago. Incredible show as they cover PF music and sound as good as, if not better than the band. Here is their Redrock performance.

I don't know why musicians and actors can't just keep their political views to themselves. It does not help their status in the world regardless of which side they bow to. I used to like the Foo Fighters and would see them when I could until I found out how left they are. Won't pay to see them again. And to think, all they had to do was stick to music.

The wife and I went to the new Moody Center in April I believe, it's an awesome venue, great place for a concert. I dont know if I would want to sit in the seats up high, they are a good ways up. We paid for seat close to the stage ( to the left of the stage if you were facing it) and they still had a great view. There are several big screens, so that might make the up high seats a little better. We loved it and we will go back. Parking is tough. If I were you, I would go online to Park Whiz and pay for a parking pass in one of the parking garages. We used the Trinity Garage at 1815 Trinity St. It was money well spent. It is easier to find and pay for your parking pass online, using your computer, than trying to do it through the phone ap. You then put the ap on your phone and your digital pass will be on your phone. The app will even give you directions to the garage. I couldn't imagine trying to just show up and find parking.

They sell drinks at Moody as well, a little pricey, but not much different than going to a ballgame.

I think you will enjoy the show at Moody. Let me know if you have any other questions, I will try to help.

The trinity parking garage is maybe 2 blocks from the venue, a very short walk.

because musicians like Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Springsteen, FF (Dave Grohl), Waters, etc... believe they have the right to tell you how to live your life. Basically, using concerts to promote propaganda in order to influence your opinion or make you feel guilty about the subject. Before Taylor Hawkins tragic death, there was a huge rift in the band between Grohl and Hawkins. Dave tried to tell everyone they needed to get vaccinated, or they were gonna die. Whereas Taylor was an anti-vaxxer believing it was a matter of personal choice on getting the jab. Hollywood actors and movie stars also use their fame to promote their agenda, although most are hippocrates.

I have no doubt that with the recent SCOTUS decisions on Roe v. Wade and firearms restrictions that concerts will be loaded with political messages.

Does waters get booed a lot? I wonder if he has people that boo and don’t agree removed like Trump?

That would be a miserable concert with all that hatred on display.

That moody center looks like an awesome event center from the photos.
