Mule deer hunting

i think there are some WMA areas up near amarillo that have mulies on it. im not sure. Hope you find what your looking for...

Matador WMA. It's a draw hunt through TPWD.

I think there is some around Ft. Stockton/ Big Bend area.

i think that they are all drawn hunts except for lake meridth. i have heard its a pumpkin patch up there on the weekends though.

Black Gap WMA, Matador WMA, and Elephant Mountain WMA, all drawn hunts. I have some kinfolk that work for TPWD over there and he says there are some big boys there, just very hard to hunt. I haven't been lucky enough to get drawn yet. Hope this helps!

like matador live kinda close i go for stand by and have always hunted.seen some really nice deer but i have only killed hogs there

Well its good to hear about being able to get in on stand by I guess for most people like myself its along ride for the hope of being able to hunt. I have put in since they started the mule deer drawn hunts a couple of years ago and still waiting to get picked. I almost wish the drawing was like Colorado's with the most points go first. I actually put in for the Big Bend Area.

A buddy of mine went there last year, and said you could almost watch deer get shot at from hunter to hunter.

Call the Presidio county game warden and ask about an area called Little Vietnam. Its an extremely large chunk of public land a little north of Big Bend.

There is also Lake Meridith and Lake Amistad. Lake Amistad in Del Rio has a few mule deer in unit 4 which is only accessable by boat.

Best of luck hunting out there. Your best bet is going to be Little Vietnam. Just keep on it untill you find the area. Its a pretty well kept secret out there.

Good info Dahmer. It must be a well kept secret, because I couldn't find anything online about it. Have you had any success hunting the little vietnam area? Are rifles allowed, or is it just limited range?
