    New Orleans - Now

Wife planned our Anniversary Trip to New Orleans. How Covid Crazy is it right now? We are flying in then trying to Uber to downtown. Expect to eat some good food, gamble a bit and hopefully spend a few days without kids. What are we looking at with Vaccine and mask madness? Thanks for any input.

Not to many issues now. Some restaurants may ask for proof of vaccine, while others don’t care. There maybe a mask requirement in a few places. If you’ve never visited…check out Deanies for fried seafood, Pelican Club for fine dining, both reasonably priced with the large portions. Avoid the 1st block of Bourbon Street after midnight.

The wife and I love to visit New Orleans but on principle we refuse to show our papers to enter a restaurant, so that city is off the table for now. We used to have meetings there and dont now for the same reason.

My coworker just got back this past weekend. Said it was really hard to find places to eat in the city. The places that were open had long wait lines. Especially any place that had outdoor seating and didn't require you vax card to enter. As well as many small touristy shops not open as well.
I was planning on taking the family as well but its seems like the mayor's got that place a mess right now. We are going to hold for the moment. Good luck to you

Heard a guy talking about his trip. Said almost all the restaurants, and a strip club, required proof of vaccine.

I love going to new Orleans as we usually go about 3x per year but you couln't pay me to go now. Lots of places are still asking for vaccine cards. But since you are already going Deanies is a must for seafood. Their large seafood plater is very good and more than enough for 2 people. Their bloody maries are great also.

Drago’s grilled oysters make any covid crap worth it.

because of Mayor Latoya the Destroya, most of downtown and Orleans Parish requires proof of vaccination. Additionally, many restaurants still are short staffed and don’t have enough cooks, waiters, and employees to operate at pre-Covid dining. Pretty sure you need to schedule reservations days, weeks in advance because of the aforementioned stuff.

If you’re dead set on eating in New Orleans, search for the list mentioned dozens of times, then start calling the restaurants directly to see what their dining policy is. Don’t rely on what you read on the www 2 weeks ago because things are constantly changing daily.

I would have no problem going to NOLA and spending my $$ in Jefferson Parish which has awesome restaurants and places to eat or drink. … Dragos, ACME, Moscas, Impastatos, Zea, Bahn Mi, Deanies Seafood, R&O’s, Bears Poboys, Harbor Seafood, Desi Vega’s seafood & steak, etc.. Metairie , Bucktown, and other places have lots of great food & restaurants
