Some guys post a cell number by “spelling” out every other number. Example- 3 five 4 , one 7 two 9. What’s the reason for this?

In theory it's to prevent robo scanners from picking up your phone number and adding it to their list.

It ranks up there with blotting out the license number on your car...imo.

I'm of the opinion that I only share my number via PM.

It is usually done to throw off the algorithm robots in an effort to keep off of telemarketing grabs.

Bots scan forums in order for spammers to make scam calls.

Back in the earlier internet forum days if you put your full numeric number you would be receiving spam calls by end of day.

Not dumb ??......I always thought blotting out license plate/tx numbers on line dumb...There in plain sight on highway/parking lot all the rest of time..What am I missing?
