Negative Effects from Freeze on Whitetail

This is pure speculation, but our whitetail herd (in the hill country) looks punier this year than last year. I know the freeze tore up the exotic population, but has anyone seen any studies or have any anecdotal evidence on the effects of the freeze in the whitetail?

I'm thinking it hurt Leon County as well.

We're seeing deer, just no shooters

Our East Texas deer seemed to come through it just fine and have never looked healthier.

There is one really old buck that is pushing 10 years that I didn't expect to see again, but he's still alive.

Our hill country place has more deer and turkey (and pigs) showing up on camera than we have seen in years. No old bucks this year but we don’t generally see them until later.

Mature deer probably won't be affected.
This was eating corn off the ice!

            Sorry about sideways pic.

Our deer have been heavier this year than in previous years. It has been green for a long time plus the extra protein we feed had to assist.

Don’t think it bothered them much

A few of them seem a little thin & we are heavy protein & we are distributing about 15 thousands of alfalfa on top of that.

Wet season with lots of browse during the growth season, so hopefully bigger bodies and antlers. Here's the best one I've seen in several years on my place. You can see the green in the background.

The best year ever at our place on the border of freestone and Navarro county in terms of deer herd health and big bucks

Y’all that are having banner years are lucky. Our bucks are smaller than they have been in years.

We are seeing lots of trash horn bucks and I rarely see that on my place.

I'm seeing healthy deer this year in Houstom County and can't see any effects from the freeze.
