I think most are good hunts. My nephew hit the lotto on this and hunted the King ranch for a cull killed a super cool 7 point.
I think there are several members on here who are involved in these hunts maybe one will respond.

I looked into this for my son but for us it ended up being more trouble than it was worth. The biggest hurdle was getting the Hunter Education which is never offered around here. I have heard a lot of great things about it though. Good Luck.

Your chances are pretty good, but not going to get drawn if you don't put in. If your wanting a 100% chance don't waste your time.

My family did it for years and ended up volunteering on several hunts! Awesome program! Put in and see what happens

Not looking for 100%, just better than average.

First timers get preference over kids who have hunted before so your chance is pretty much 100% getting something right off the bat depending on how many first timers apply for a hunt. Both of my kids drew one of the first two hunts they applied for. After the first one though the odds drop significantly. So my advice would be to apply to only the ones that look really good for the first hunt. If you have any specific questions on hunts feel free to shoot me a dm.

Also their emails always to to my spam/junk folder which almost made my kids miss out on multiple hunts so make sure you keep an eye on that.

Also if you have a friend referral that kid gets to go too!

We loved both hunts we went on. Amazing!!!! So awesome and we had such great food. Ate like kings.

Our first was my son’s first deer harvested. We had no clue on how to process it. The hunt master, other parents & kids all jumped in and helped us out.

Really do it while you can! Also if $$$ is an issue they have scholarships too.

Like previously said, they work with the first timers. Great program. Each ranch is different and has their own rules. Some are doe only, some let you take a cull buck I saw a kid take a main frame 8 with drop tines that was a cull deer on this particular ranch. Everyone in camp was very jealous. Good luck.

I have been on probably close to 20 TYHP hunts over the years through my three kids and they have all been fantastic. They are all unique and every huntmaster runs hunts different from others but that's just part of the cool experience. My daughter and I have completed volunteer training (not huntmaster) and will be volunteering on our first hunt next month.

He can do most of it online, and then a four hour in person class.

Usually first time applying have a real good chance, they put out hunts that are 1st year kiddos only.
