we just bought our daughter a Lenovo chromebook at best buy for $219. She a Junior and we figure for what she needs it to do it'll work. Plenty of memory and GB's.

Apple: Expensive, but very strong with great graphics and does not slow down with time and almost no viruses.

Non-Apple: more affordable, but slows with time and too many viruses.

Chromebook: a simple version of a laptop without many softwares, (mostly office) and weaker processor.

look online (Groupon has dented ones and refurbished ones on sale all the time) also Costco.

          Howdy!

Prefer Mac if I have the option, but not a fanboy by any means. All the Macs we've owned continue to work well from as far as hardware is concerned. Only had to replace older machines due to lack of support for OS/software, security updates, etc.

As mentioned you could buy 2+ PCs for the price of a Mac, but then you'd have to go through the hassle of replacing the PC several times over the functional life of a Mac. ATI summed it up well.

          Remember...Buy once, cry once!

Should not matter where you look. If you are buying new, they will be price fixed.

Bought my son and wife new HP Pavilion laptops this year and last. Same as my accountant uses. Same as my tax consultant uses.

All are very happy with the product. I'll be replacing my laptop with one of these shortly.

Look on Facebook market place and find her a used macbook. That's what we did for my boys and have not regretted it.

for our business and our home we've purchased refurbished iMacs off of eBay for a few hundred dollars each and they have all been great at a fraction of the cost of new ones. I think we have 5 of them.

My MacBook that I use daily for work also I've had for 6 years and never had a single issue. I hate my iPhone but love the iMacs and MacBooks.

Was looking at one these to use for checking and storing a few trail cam pics. Would this work? Figured I could let me boy use it for school work when I'm not using it. Thoughts?

should be fine, as long as they're not gaming on it. the guy at the store coulda sold me more expensive computers, but said for just doing research online, and typing up papers this one would be fine.

                          This here.

I’m Team Apple. I bet my MacBook is at least ten years old. As stated above, it hasn’t slowed down yet and has never had a virus. Other things I like about it are that the OS updates are frequent and, more importantly, seamless. No kinks to work out afterwards. Additionally, Macs come “pre-loaded” with installation software for all but the most obscure peripheral. It’s literally “plug and play.”

Computer technology is not intuitive to me; not only that, but I have little patience when problems occur. It is for these reasons and a few others that I think they’re the best value.
