The Golden Triangle (the one you've never heard of)

After reading Chew's Manitoba Muzzleloader Buck thread again, I wanted to share a few pictures I had, along with an area I hunt that I consider one of Ontario Canada's best kept secret's of the whitetail world.

The Golden Triangle that I'm referring too begins in International Falls, MN, travels north on Highway 71 until it hits Highway 17A (Trans Canadian Highway) right outside Kenora, Ontario. From there, head East along Highway 17A until it its Highway 17, just west of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Just for the fun of it and cuz I've got nothing better to do, I'm going to make a bold prediction that in 2022, a New World Record Whitetail will be killed, somewhere in this general area, if 2 or 3 things take place. (see attached aerial for reference).

This area is 10,000 square miles of some of the best genetics I've ever seen, in conjunction with, for the most part, the least amount of hunting pressure to go along with that. (majority of the locals only moose hunt and consider deer a nuisance). Out of the 5-6 times I've hunted it, I have personally seen a 200" typical, a 200"+ non-typical, and held the head of a buck that was run over the week we were up there hunting. (see pics). Also, google the "Dryden Buck" to see another giant from the area.

If the border stays closed for the 2021 hunting season, and non resident hunters aren't allowed to cross the border, coupled with another mild winter, that will be two seasons the deer population will have a chance to recover and add two years of age structure to the buck population. (that in itself will save a lot of 3.4 & 4.5 year olds and allow them to reach maturity in 2022.)

Anyway, I know the chances of the Milo Hansen buck ever being beaten is slim to none, but one of these days, if it ever is, it wouldn't surprise me if it came from this area. Just thought I'd share with the Green Screen what I think is Ontario's best kept secret.

Let me know what you thing the dead head will score.

Lots of people thought the Jordan buck couldn’t be bested. Why not Milo’s too?
