    Rifle threading suggestions in Houston

Well, my suppressor is finally home.
I will like to thread my kids 243 rifle.
Do you have any gunsmith recommendations around Katy?
Also do you think it will be better to thread it 1/2 inch and use an adapter?

Currently shooting on a savage desert tactical in 6.5.

I had to on the Ruger .243 we have, your gunsmith will tell you if you have enough metal to go 5/8x24.

The dangerous part about threading 1/2" is that a 5.56/223 can could be put on by mistake

Pete Piper with Precision Barrel Work in Hempstead. http://www.precisionbarrelwork.com/
Had my kids 7mm-08 chopped down to 16" and threaded 1/2-28. Perfect fit for them. I bought a 5/8-24 to 1/2-28 adaptor off ebay (US made one).

Might contact Pete Piper at Precision Barrel works in Hempstead. As said above, you must have enough meat at the end of the barrel to cut a thread and have enough left for a shoulder to seat the suppressor.

No one has mentioned Aaron Roberts with Roberts Precision Rifles. His work is outstanding and who I currently use for PRS rifles.

I used these guys recently and they did a great job. Believe it was $165 so yes, a bit on the high side but not terrible, you can probably get it done for $120-$140 elsewhere.

I went with Pete Piper from Precision Barrel. Threaded to 1/2 inch, now waiting on a new mount for the nomad before going out to the range.
I think the mount may work better than an adapter as it will be one less piece to worry about!.

                      hope they used lube...

If you don't mind disassembling & mailing it, Morgan @ Class 3 in the DFW area is top notch.

Do you have to pull the barrel or can you send him the barreled action?
