Iowa Deer Classic !!!

We went to the Iowa Deer Classic in Des Moines today.

It was great to go to an hunting show that seemed like "normal" times.

A friends buck is leading the Typical Archery Division for the 2020 season. He called this buck Zeus and he has an awesome history with this buck. He was blessed to close the deal this last October.

Nice, love to see them B!g corn fed monsters from up there. The natural kickers and palmations beat the dna splitters down hear any day. Just the mass makes me drool from what I get to see in the Hill Country. Heading to Des Moines soon, thought about moving up there, but this last ice storm here in Texas reminded me why I wouldn't survive the winter there. Has the snow all melted yet ?

There is just a few patches of snow left on north slopes and shady areas. The weather has been awesome this past week. There were a lot of people wearing shorts at the Deer Classic yesterday.

I just took a few pictures. Those big buck mounts go on forever. Some are historical big bucks, some are recent years, and some are 2020 bucks. There is a whole area of massive sheds and a shed contest also.

Iowa DNR does a great job of managing their deer herd. However, there are locals that still do deer drives

I don't think they were there. I didn't see their Prevost motor home or see them on the events schedule. There were a lot of vendors that did not show up because of Covid. There were still a lot there. Signs said masks required, but about 1 in a 100 were wearing them.
