    Oak wilt resistance question

Do y’all have any recommendations regarding what type of oak trees to plant in the Mountain Home area? Looking for a tree that is oak wilt resistant, drought tolerant, and can thrive in thin rocky soil.

Maybe a cedar or mesquite tree.

What oak trees are in the area now? If they have survived I'm sure new ones would have a good chance of surviving too.

Not sure but have oak wilt on a few. We’re gonna thin out a few cedar and try to plant more of a variety.

Thin soil and drought may hamper its growth.

                  Mexican Oak the most resistant.
Best to plant where you take a cedar out but be ware, there will be 1000+ cedars spring up where 1 large cedar was before, so get ready to wack'em...

Dang Bob. I know if I ask “what’s the best time of year to cut cedars” someone will say “anytime “. I get that. So, you shouldn’t remove em while their blooming? Or during “cedar fever” time?
