    How long to gut?

There was a post up earlier on "how long to clean a deer". That post seemed to be, how long it took you to clean, skin, cut up, etc....

How long does it take you to gut a deer? I have to take my time, so as not to cut myself and be careful with the meat, and not get stuff contaminated. A guy at the processor I take my deer to, said he can do it in 8-10 minutes. Bragging or possible?

I quit gutting them over 10 years ago. I really can't remember how long it took me but I couldn't see it taking longer than 10 mins.

Gutting is the easy part. I know a lot of people don't do it. I can do it on the tailgate or on the ground in no more than 5 min. It helps to have someone hold legs and help dump out blood but it's really just a few cuts and pull.

I know a preacher who gutted a deer in 17 seconds- field dress. I saw it on video and I was super impressed!

I've done one in 90 seconds. Had a buddy bet me that i could not do it in under 2 minutes.

I did it with breaking the pelvis bone too. I really enjoyed that $100...

I only gut if it's an evening kill that will hang overnight. I bet I can do it in 1-2 minutes.

I can gut. Skin, quarter and on ice in 15 min.

Just a couple minutes is pretty normal.
10 minutes if I stop to drink a beer LOL

I haven't done one on the ground in a while. I hang them by the head and drop the guts into a wheel barrow

Under 8 minutes should be a breeze. I figure more like 3-5 minutes .

Under 5 minutes easily. Makes me wonder how you’re doing it OP if you think the guy is bragging.

I'd like to see these quick gut practice without clipping the poop shoot... I've done it every way possible and if you want your meat to be clean the best way in my opinion is gutless hanging from back legs and then at very end cut around the colon to remove the tenders

I am not even good at it,but when I do gut one its gutted where it falls and it does not take over 5 minutes, probably more like 2 or 3.

I did the first I’ve done in 10+ years last week. For sure less than 5 minutes

I definitely prefer the gutless method if you are able to hang them up somewhere. When I do have to field dress it takes 10-15 mins tops.
