The home designed printers are all terrible man.. I've had many in 12 yrs of home office.. I'm on an hp now and it's ok but has some glitches. Do all the scanning and pdfs you can and email it.. Epson was no good
I'm also in the market for one. Reading the reviews on Amazon, online PC mags and other sites it seems there isn't a clear winner for home use. Like many things, every brand and model seems to be loved by some and hated by others. The MegaTank printers from Canon have caught my attention. They get refilled with ink bottles instead of the typical ink cartridges.
HP Envy 5530. It’s the Detroit Diesel 12V92 of printers. There’s better out there, you hate the one you have, but the **** thing just won’t stop working.
Home printers have always been a source of frustration for me. One of the things on today’s “to do” list is figure out why our HP 5540 is not communicating with my wife’s laptop
This. If you can do without color printing, a B and W using toner is the way to go. A little over 5 years ago, I was doing insurance work out of my home. I got a Brother HL-54500N . I printed merge/mail lists and used it quite a bit.
If I am not mistaken, I am on my 2nd toner cartridge and they cost $25-$30.
There are a few cons . This is only printer. Not a scanner or copier. But I have an app on my phone and can scan , send to my computer and then print if I need to do that.
Since b&w, you will probably not care to print photos. But if I want quality photos to give , I take to CVS or Walgreens and have them printed there.
This thing is heavy duty and probably uses more electricity. When I hit print, the lights dim slightly for a second. But if you have an overloaded circuit, I imagine it could trip a breaker. But I don't think I will ever buy another color printer.
At work, we bought (against my wishes) an 11x17 color printer which is used infrequently. We make a few copies and then it sits idle for months . Then the cartridges are dried out and we have to fork out $80 or more the next time we want to make a few large copies.
We use an HP OfficeJet 3830. It scans, copies, fax and is Bluetooth. It was fairly affordable when we bought it so the wife could work from home last March. She uses it every day and so far so good.
Design Jet (hp) printers are where it’s at. Check out gov deals dot com from your area. I picked up a few for pennies on the dollar. They use toner and last forever.
