    Mulching cost?

What would be a round about estimate for cost on having about 2.5 acres mulched. It’s thick yaupon and brush in an area that pine saplings did not grow after replanted. Here is an over head of the area. Located in southern Jasper county.

There’s not really such thing as a small machine if you’re talking skid steer mulchers. Even the smallest mulching heads require a pretty big machine. There’s a couple “small” mulchers, but they’re pushing the limits of the 75-80hp machines. Almost all are being ran on 95-110hp skid steers, which are the large machines.

Start talking dedicated mulchers or Ex mounted mulchers and that’s a whole new ballgame.

R4 Landworks out of Carthage charges $1200 for 8 hours. We've used him 3 times and he's done great for us. Most of ours has been thick Yaupon and he's done 2.5-3 acres per day. He's on Facebook and his number is (903) 578-0257

Well I guess when I meant “big” I was referring to something like skid steer vs the larger track machines. I couldn’t remember the last $/hr rate I had heard but seemed like $125 stuck in my head, and at $225/hr I figured that was for a larger capacitied machine. Main reason asking is because this area is in a wet area and can be difficult to get to and accessibility for a heavy machine may come down to not being able to take a large machine but a smaller machine that may not “sink” as bad. But there is also the option of running a new road through the pine plantation down between two rows. That would probably be beneficial anyway.

Yeah you did big time. They cost operator about $85-95/hr just to operate a mulcher. They are VERY HIGH consumables and maintenance equipment.
