    Shipleys Kolaches

This video from YouTube shows you how to make an almost identical dough recipe for Shipley's kolaches. Fun fact... Shipley's uses the same dough for kolaches for their donuts. I made a batch using my homemade kielbasa with Kraft American cheese. They were awesome and they taste even better the next day.

That’s not a kolache!!! Kolaches do not have meat in them, only cream or jelly filled. That what you make and shipleys too would be a klobasnik! But yours does look pretty good and probably taste better than Shipleys

I don’t care what you call them. Shipleys is two thumbs down. If you’re in the Clute or Brazoria area do yourself a favor and check out The Kolache Shop. You won’t be able to stomach Shipley’s again.

1 boudain and 1 cream cheese is my go to.

Hahaha! I guess I'm more of a klobasnik guy then. You can keep the jelly filled kolache. Iv stopped at Hruska's so many time and dont care for the kolaches they make.

Why not recreate them? I love kolaches and I tend to make something I like at any place I eat. Plus it's a 20min drive to the nearest shipleys.

I just made a batch a boudin from the last hog I slaughtered. They go great in a "klobanasik".

Shipleys has the worst kolaches on the planet. No way I’d try to recreate their disaster

Not all shipleys are the same. The one in Alvin is good. I tried one in Columbus and the bread was hard as a rock.

Good to know. About 5 years ago when we moved into our previous home, there was a shipleys down the road. I had actually never eaten at one, but was excited to have a donut shop close to the house for weekend mornings. We were all saddened by what we tried to eat lol

Thank you for sharing! I just sent that to my Aunt from Georgia who loves Shipley! I’m sure she will give that a try over the holidays.
