Proud dad moment

So my oldest is a Sr, and got accepted to UMHB and Houston Baptist. But today she got her acceptance letter to her dream school: East Texas Baptist University! And on top of that, after reviewing her academics, offered her a Honors Scholarship for $10k/year! So proud of all the hard work she has put in.

That's great. I remember our daughter going through this four years ago, she is going to graduate this coming spring, from Tech.

That scholarship deal is very good. That's one of those go out and buy her something very special for getting that scholarship. Our daughter got quite a bit of scholarship money the first years and a decent amount the second year, then last year, it dropped off a lot. This year almost none. Most of the scholarships she got, were just for the first year, then there were some that were good for the first two years. So the groups doing the scholarships get their name in the paper, showing themselves with the kids, but most are only for the the first year. The next year, they are giving their money to some other kids. It's still a good deal, very nice of them, but once all those scholarships go away and you are paying most of the tuition yourself, it's rough.
