    Clyde's Archery in Corpus

Well, I had a little mishap in the bow blind yesterday evening... I firmly believe that my new Mathews VXR is defective, but that's neither here nor there. Thanks to Chew and DamonJ for keeping the details off the green screen.

That said, I wanted to give a shout out to Clyde's Archery in Corpus. I called Clyde after said mishap yesterday evening and explained that my VXR had somehow unstrung itself. He told me he didn't open until 11, but to meet him at his shop at 10 AM. I made the 113 mile trip, and he was waiting at the door for me when I arrived, got me re-strung, watched me sling a few, and told me I was good to go. He tried not to accept any money for his effort, but I ended up convincing him to let me pay for lunch. Clyde is a hall of famer and one heck of a nice guy if you're ever in need of a good shop in the CC area.

He is a great guy ! Clyde is the reason I picked up a bow in 1993 . Watched him shoot a coyote on the run ! He has always been there anytime I needed anything.

Clydes is the reason I have been bow hunting for about 25 years. He goes above board to help his customers. Great person.

Sometimes guys like this get forgotten. I wanted to put his name back out there. He was so grateful for me coming in. I bought some broadheads just because. He even turned his business cards over and wrote 4 free passes to come in and shoot. Really got a kick out of us being archery only for 35 years.

Clyde is definitely a great guy. I used to go there a lot back in the 80s and early 90s, before I moved up north, to that far away place known as New Braunfels.

Years ago, I got a new bow, buddy and I went the Aransas Wildlife Refuge, it's a fairly long trip from Beeville. We got up early, drove down there. Got out of the truck, then started pulling bows out of the truck. As soon as I reached for my bow, I saw the string was cut, almost completely in two. It was long enough ago, we were both still using brass pin sights. The bows had been vibrating or shaking, behind the seat of his new truck and one of the brass pins on my buddy's bow, had been up against my string and cut it almost all the way through. Probably would have scared the crap out of us, had we drove another 20 to 30 miles and it completely cut the string. Driving along in the dark, early in the morning, then have a bow come apart behind the seat, would have been interesting. Luckily that did not happen. We got to the refuge a little before sun up. I told my buddy to hunt by himself, I would just sit on the tripod and spectate. He insisted we try and find a string. We eventually got close enough to town to make a call. I called Clyde's, someone answered and said they would be there waiting for my to show up. This was on a Saturday morning one October. We hauled butt to Corpus and found his new location. The only time I had ever been there, he was off of Way Out Webber area. I think when my bow string got cut, they were off of Staples maybe, it's been a long time, I mainly remember they were not in the WOW area anymore. The guy who was there, found a string for my bow, we were able to get back out to the refuge by noon or so, that day, even with all the driving.

Clyde's will always be my favorite bow shop.

Good guy. I hunted at the C Ranch a few times when he ran hunts there. Went to the shop here and there when I had business to attend to in Corpus over the years.

I love here and am a big fan of Clydes! Him and his people make it fun to shoot and I don’t feel like I’m bothering them when I go in there..
