    Cheap alfalfa feeder

I started converting our old 55 gal corn feeders into alfalfa feeders last year. Used old damaged cattle panels from the lease. Only expense was the welding supplies.
Might not be the prettiest but they work great. Will hold a full bale.

Very similar to mine. They do work well.

Yup, that’s exactly what I did but with an old 30gal feeder barrel. It works great.

I've been using a 55-gal barrel for an alfalfa feeder now or a couple years trying to get more Axis on our lease. Most times the bale lasts 3-4weeks and it's only been whitetail deer so far.

In Sept, I put out another bale for the start of this season. Two weeks later I went to check on things and the alfalfa was all gone. Check the pics on my camera and there were 5,400 pictures of up to 8 whitetail hanging out at the alfalfa all day and all night long! They decimated the bale in less than 5 days!

I think I found the new deer drug of choice!

If one was to put an alfalfa feeder outside of a feed pen, would the hogs destroy it? I have often thought of feeding alfalfa, but was curious about how hard the hogs would stay after it.

Hogs are able to get into my feeder pen, but they haven't messed with the alfalfa much at all.

I have the same design alfalfa feeders as above, hogs never mess with them.

A bale is lasting less than a week for us this year as well.

I’ve never seen a hog touch the alfalfa.

Hogs don’t mess with my alfalfa feeder one bit.
