    Axe rehab

My elderly neighbor gave me about 26 axes that had been in a wheelbarrow that filled up full of water.

Every single head was loose, and some of the handles were badly cracked or warped. Because of the rust, no markings were visible. I started cleaning them up, and re-wedging the ones with solid handles.

Did this one first, a nice little Plumb hatchet.

Ended up rehanging 6 full sized and two hatchets, with another 6 or 8 that I’ll have to get new handles for.

Several Plumb, several True Temper, a Worth, a Homestead, one simply marked Tempered, and a few unmarked.

All these were fitted back to solid handles and re set with hickory wedges.

Had an ax that had Firestone on it . The F was like they always used .
I don't know if it was made by Firestone or maybe someone worked there
and used a stamp on it .

I'm taking them to a knifemaking event this weekend, but may sell some after that.
