    What Canon camera?

Just got back from a week in Colorado

Currently have Rebel T2 and wife said we need a new camera

Very much the amateur when it comes to photography but would like to start seriously getting to where I can use manual controls and get better pics than "easy mode"

I don't need or have the skills developed to buy a upper end body yet

I am looking at 90D but should I consider a lower end full frame like the 6D Mark II?

Open to suggestions including reasoning/explanation for your suggestion

    Thanks

What’s your budget? Current lenses? Is video a priority?

Around $1200 I figure for camera

No L glass, yet. I think 28-135 F3.5 is what we have on camera most of the time. Have some more, but not exactly sure what they are. One came with camera and other goes to 300 I think but not sure what F stop?

Do plan to get some L glass and and have rented some higher end stuff for trips in the past.

Video is not priority right now but could be an option for the future or even a next purchase. I barely use the video camera I have now.

The 90D is a powerhouse, you'll have fast shooting and great video all in one. Good for sports and wildlife.

The 6d is also a really good choice. Not as good for wildlife and sports, but better for portrait and landscape photography in my opinion.

BT, I just posted 2 for sale, both would suit your needs just fine! Added bonus, Im headed back to Wood County this weekend and can deliver.

Persoannly, I prefer full-frame camera models. I really like the EOS R but with the adapter you will be over the $1200 budget. Another option would be 5DmkIV, again, you'll be over your budget a bit but its a great camera that would serve you for many years. You could pick up a 5Dmkiii but, I would expand the budget a bit if possible for the mkiv or EOS R.

As far as crop sensors go, 90D. Hands down. You'll come in under budget and have great video, great photo resolution, higher fps. Its a feature packed body.

Have to sell some other toys to be in position to buy now or I would be interested
Hoping to have funds by Christmas or shortly after new year
For once I was trying to do my research before I was actually ready to buy

Your lens will be much more important than the body.
IMO you need a fixed focal 1.8 for wide angle, medium and telephoto
                  Probably 35mm, 50mm, and something over 100mm
I would then recommend the walk around lens with a constant 2.8.

You don’t need all 4 lenses now, but that last lens will be half your budget.

I promise you, with great glass, you’ll be one happy camper.
