    RV Camper purchase help

I'm looking at selling my bumper pull camper and possibly replacing it with a 5th wheel toybox. I've looked at a few and new campers and noticed they lose their value faster than vehicles after you drive off the lot. Any camper salesman out there make me a good fair deal?

Also looking on recommendations on what campers are good and which aren't and what I need to look for while shopping for a used one.

    Thanks men.

      RV Camper purchase help

I figured out what 3 RV’s I liked and went to online wholesalers to get pricing. The difference was amazing. I then went local and bought it, but saved $13,000. That was in 14’
I hear now is not good time to buy as the demand is so high, they are not dealing. [emoji2369]

I ended up with a Keystone

We just picked up a new 2018 Jayco last weekend.

        A) You are going to pay a premium at this time unless you get lucky. We got lucky and found a 2018 with the party sofa, which no one wanted and it has been on the lot since 2018. We got over 20k off sticker, and had the dealer replace the roof and front cap. We still got a 2 year warranty as well.

B)In general, quality is down right now. MFG's are spitting them out as fast as they can right now. I've seen numerous stories from all makes of brake electrics not being connected, wiring not consolidated in cabinets, awnings that break on the first use due to lack of alignment, all sorts of thigns under the sun. That said, Jayco and Grand Design are generally considered "top of the line" until you get into Tiffin 5er's, which they don't have the toy hauler.

My suggestion, find out four or five models you are interested in, and join the FB group. We were interested in Grand Design #1, then Jayco. After following the GD facebook groups, we switched to wanting a Jayco. Some of the shortcomings of the GD people constantly complained about were things we couldn't compromise on. Jayco also has a lot better warranty should anything go wrong.

It is a horrible time to buy an RV but if you wait for another year I believe there will be a lot of them on the market.
They are selling like crazy now but financial institutions will be getting a lot of them back, I’m afraid.

So, my camper is going to bring a premium!!

My dad just bought another Jayco. He had horrible problems with his 18 and the dealer made him a deal on his 2021. I've been looking at the Hearthland torque and cyclones

I listed mine for $1000 more than I thought was reasonable, and had it sold at that price in 24 hours. And that was a cheap Forest River.

Yes, used trailers are bringing a premium right now. You might have to sell it yourself to get it. The RV industry is setting crazy record about of sell growth. Some dealers business has increased over 400% during the pandemic

Grand designs are very nice trailers. I have a 2018 primetime (Forest River). It’s been good but not near as nice as my parents Grand Design.

As others have mentioned. Right now it’s a sellers market.

RVs are flying off the lots right now due to the demand for people to get away and stay off a plane. Good Luck getting a good deal. My wife and I bought one last year and the same place we bought ours from wanted $10k more on the advertised price than the one we bought last year for the same model.

They pretty much are all made pretty cheaply these days. There are problems with all of them. They are house rolling down the road at hurricane speed. You will have problems.

And yes, they do depreciate at a rapid pace for the first several years.

We bought a 2020 Jayco Eagle back in May.
And love it so far. Taking it out twice a month so far and no issues.

We also saved 5,000 on buying it in Louisiana over the Texas Jayco dealers

We just picked up a 2021 Grand Design reflection 31mb in July - we wanted to get a late model used 5er, but it was impossible to find the bunkhouse floor plan we wanted and the used prices werent that much less than a new one. Still got 25% off of msrp which is about "average" pre-covid.
I am well aware of the depreciation, but I consider it the price for great memories - already had some really good ones!
