    Tent Camping at Thompson Temple's

My Son & I are scheduled to go Ram Hunting 6-8 November .. He wants to Camp in a Tent and we're all equipped to include aa small Tailgate Generator .

We've been there many times but have stayed iin the 2 Bunkhouses...

Anyone ever Camp in a Tent ?

We have people that tent camp every July, on our Hotter'n Hell hunt.

There's also a small cabin, that Raypo and his crew built, up on the mountain.
It'd be nice in the winter, and you could actually drive up to it if you're brave enough to go up the hill.

I thought about the cabin up Top and I've been on the back of Thompson's Truck going up/down ..
I don't have a 4-Wheeler and No Way ... I'll try it. Only way I go up top these days is on foot. Thompson doesn't go up top much like he use to .. I imagine that was a LOT of wear & tear on his vehicles and he is getting older ..Lol

bigmike .. I hear you as it's mostly rocks like my Mini-Ranch (@50 Acres) near Rocksprings (Hwy 41 & CR 230 area). But the area next to the A-Frame should be OK ... Kinda Flat and got some soil ...

I stayed in my Hennessy hammock The one time I went there (probably 12 years ago). The bunkhouse was disgusting and thankfully I had the hammock with me. I didn’t shower for the 2 days but I felt cleaner than what I saw in that single wide trailer. I’m surprised people actually go to that place, especially knowing what it’s like.

It’s been many years since I last hunted there. Back then goats lived in that trailer. Hunters slept in the big house. That was back before Thompson stayed in it. We had that nice house all to ourselves.

Went there about 10-11 yrs ago. I stayed in a hotel in Rocksprings and just made the drive there and back.
There was a group staying in the bunk house and the trailer. No way that I could have stayed in either. If memory serves me correct, the bunkhouse had a dirt floor.

But I had a fun time. I wasn't there to make things easy. TT took us up top and I stalked all back in there. It is rough going up and on the backside. At one point, I was lost but knew it wouldn't be all that hard to find my way back .

I have stayed in a tent a couple of times.
Put your tent up by the Rock cabin, under the trees and plug up an electrical cord for a fan if it is hot. You will be fine!!
NOTE: Take some covers as well, it could turn off cold in a hurry. Be prepared just encase.

                        Good luck!!

People can hate on TT's hunts all they want, but back in 2002 when I joined TBH and was learning to hunt, was in college and my friends and I were all starving college kids who wanted to be bowhunters; we would save for months to be able to go out there and bow hunt and we loved it. We had some great times and butt kicking hunts on top and back. We would plan our trips out there and be so excited for the months and weeks leading up to our TT trip. It was such good times. And yes, you could make it as hard or as easy as you wanted but we had fun and that's all that mattered.
