New arrows | Insert weight suggestions

    Hey all,
Picked up some Beman ISC Hunter Classics for a good price.

    50lb
    27" draw

    400 spine

Should I go with 175gr, 200gr, or 225gr (insert and broadhead weight included in those numbers)?

    Thanks,
    M

Try each of em and see what flies the best. Have you watched any of the Ranch Fairy's videos?

The shorter you get your arrow the heavier you can go up front.

I shoot a 52# @ 28' draw Elite Ritual. Shooting a 400 spine FMJ with a overall length of 26" (front end to throat nock). Have 75 gr. brass insert and 125 gr. BH. (200 gr. total). Shoots very good.

Get the ethics archery ranch fairy kit of field points. They have all these heavier points you could try them all and see what your bare shaft likes the best. Look up some ranch fairy videos namely the "handload" one. Where you bare shaft tune with different field point weights until you find the one that works the best. Doing it this way then you'd know exactly which size inserts you need to buy to reach the desired outcome. Example, my bare shafts liked the 250 grain field point. My broad heads are 100 grain so I put 150 grain inserts in my arrow.

I would probably shoot a 100 grain COC and standard insert with that rig, otherwise you will probably be able to throw the arrow faster than the bow will shoot it

Haha, nobody, just trying to save you some heartache

Say you have a 340 IBO bow, with 27 inch draw that just went to 310 add a peep and D loop now you are down to 300. And at 50 pounds you are going to only maybe get that with a 250 grain arrow.

A GT 400 will weigh will About 250 at 28 Inches. Add a 100 grain head and you are at 350. Now you are down to 267, and this is if you started at 340.

If you go 175, you just lost 25 more. 242 fps
                  200 that was 8 more 234
                  225 8 fps more. 226

And that's in an ideal world with a 340 IBO bow, you probably aren't going to really be that fast in the real world.

So put a 100 COC on that rig and shoot through some deer. Or put a 125 COC on a something like a GT velocity, loose a few FPS but add some FOC and shoot through some deer, and still get some decent trajectory, and shorter time of flight to boot.

See, no whizz in cheerios, just trying to help

                  Have a good one
