    Help-broke down offshore

My brother broke down 36 miles south of Galveston jetty. I will ride with you even. Sea tow and boat us declined. $1500 to anyone who will go now and help. His boat is a 24’ tidewater w/ single 300 Yamaha.

I don’t think uscg will tow the boat , only rescue the people in the boat

Why won’t they help? It may be expensive if not insured but they can’t just say no thanks. Coast guard should probably have plenty tow for hire available

I’m with progressive, had to use them last year. I think they’ll only go out 26 miles, we were just inside that mark. Sea tow will typically go farther for a fee unless that’s changed. Wish I could help op but that’s out of my range with a single motor and that’s all I have at the moment, good luck.

Does he have radio contact with USCG?

Correction, looked at my policy, progressive sign and glide covers out to 75 miles with no deductible.

The coast guard use to tow vessels in all the time 30 years ago and I have seen them tow them in in the last few years too. Not real proud of what the coast guard has become. Spend tax payers dollars just riding around. Dang shame.

I would do it for free, been towed twice, once from 35 miles out of Matagorda. OP, is there a child on board, cause that will raise the level for the CG. The CG will radio out for assistance rather than committing a boat for them but in the end, it is CG duty to make sure all is safe. BTW, CG tows are free, don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. Keep us informed as it is getting late.

                              How about Freeport sea tow?
