    Floating the Guadalupe

Looking for advise. We have several families all wanting to float the river this weekend. Any suggestions we have several kids 2-9. Need floats with bottoms in them. I’ve read that some of the rental companies have age restrictions of 4+. Please help. Lots of varied info on the web.

I personally wouldn’t take a 2 year old unless you were ready to walk most of it. Have you ever floated any river around these parts?

      Not in about 20 years

No way in H3ll I would put a 2 year old in a tube on the Guadalupe. You looking to make the news?

I wouldn't take a kid that young. Definitely over 10. I just have this thing about me that if I can prevent an accident, then I will.

I was on the Guadalupe on memorial day weekend posted up by KL Ranch. Saw a tuber going by with a baby in her lap in a bottom layered tube. Almost threw up my lunch.

Also curious why you shouldn’t take a 2 y/o? Is it miserably busy? Moving fast?

Rushing water, undertows, rocks and I've seen grownups thrown out of their tubes. I just wouldn't do it a 20 yr old girl drown last week floating the river.

River is running in the 200's so not overly fast, but dangerous to kids of any age and a two year old, no way.

I wouldn’t take a 2 yr old but I would think 6 or 7 would be fine just make them wear a life jacket. Also there’s numerous stretches to float. The softest and most family friendly is going to be from Gruene rd bridge to river acres park on the side above common st.

The further you go up river the more partying and rougher water there is just FYI

Same question. I live 3 miles from the upper Guadalupe (above Canyon lake) and the river is very calm here. We also float the Frio, just got back from a 6 day trip yesterday and would have absolutely no issues taking a 2 year old, obviously in a live jacket or one of the puddle jumper floaties. I saw several toddlers floating the frio this week with there families. That being said we never float the lower Guadalupe so I’m curious what the reasons are to not float with a toddler in a life jacket.

Edit. Looks like several reply’s with good reasons why. OP go float the Frio. It’s way more family friendly.

I live on the Guadalupe, I’d go to Neal’s on the Frio. If you saw half the garbage we see floating (and I mean human garbage) down this river and some of the disgusting things they do in it, you’d never put your foot in the Guadalupe.
