Unemployment Benefits for LLC question

My son was working for an oil company out of their office but was actually an LLC one man company. He has been w/o a paycheck for 2 months now. He said he was told conflicting stories whether he was eligible for benefits. His savings are dwindling and he is hoping oil prices rebound soon so he can resume work. Anyone know the real answer if he is able to get unemployment benefits?

no clue. but he might as well just apply. worst they say is no. it shouldn't cost anything to apply?

During these times I think either format makes you elgible.

If he was an employee of his LLC he should/should have applied for the PPP loan. That would cover full salary up to $99k/yr ( I believe ) for the 3 month period.

I do think he is eligible for unemployment under the new rules also.
