    Unemployment payments....crazy

I have been doing my sons unemployment stuff for him...set up, requesting money, etc....inputting hours worked

    It is now "underemploment money"

For the last month he has slowly been getting more hours at work and is up to 20 hours per week, maybe 22 one week...

I have been putting the increase in hours on his wage statement every 2 weeks and his deposits are getting bigger each time....

He makes $8/ hour plus commission working at Cavenders.....

His last 2 week deposit for $2300 AFTER TAXES.....

He has surpassed what they said was his maximum benefit total for the year....

I really dont understand how they are calculating these payments...but it it really any wonder why people dont want to return to work....

Crazy....I told him to set aside half of this money because I believe they will want it back after this crap is over....

In the WSJ this morning I read about a study by the University of Chicago that 68% of those receiving the $600/week benefit are making more now than they were when employed. One in 5 are earning twice their prior wage. In some areas that is making it difficult to find people who want to come back to work. This has the potential to really delay - if not cripple - the recovery

I know several people that have the most money they've ever had at 1 time in their entire adult lives because of this.

Is there an end date to the additional unemployment income that was added during the stimulus package?

Yep, last week, I tried to hire a former employee for $15 per hour. She told me "No thanks, I'm getting more than that from unemployment".

What are these people going to do when that dries up next month?

How do they plan to just cut this off? You all know as well as i do they wont be able to just axe this payment on a certain date.

Now that these people are on the take unless they willingly go out and pursue a job and get off the tit this will never end.

The Dems are proposing to extend it through January

This issue was brought up by Graham at the time the legislation was passed and he was basically told to shut up and get in line.

The daughters boyfriend went back to work yesterday.

He was very bored and happy to be back to work even though he losses nearly 500.00 a week in UE benefits.

Please make sure to notify Texas Workforce Commission that you offered the job and it was turned down. She is no longer eligible to receive any unemployment benefits. Both the regular and extra $600.
