Truck buying advice

Looking to buy a used Tacoma prerunner for my daughter. Looking at 2 different 2014 models. Both are basically the same truck with the exception of miles. One has about 40000 more miles than the other but the price difference is $2000. The more expensive one is slightly cleaner but not by much. Is $2000 worth it for the fewer miles?

This truck is for her to take to A&M and will be the last vehicle I buy her. So I need it take her all through school and then some

I’d spend $2k for 40k miles less. That’s a 2-3 years worth of driving.

Less miles for the 2k would be my choice. Nothing like having to find a place to work on your kids car at College!

I would take both to your trusted mechanic and have him look them both over. I've seen plenty of vehicles in the same scenario. And the one with higher mileage turns out to be the better buy. Better take care of etc.

$2k more seems cheap for 40k less miles. What else is wrong with the truck? As a precaution I would run the carfax just to make sure one doesn't have major damage somewhere.

Truck is clean. Car fax is clean as well
