    Feeder Rehab.

I had a 1500lb corn feeder’s top blow off in the off-season. It was 1/2 full of corn and a stinky mess when I found it. This was a “Taylor’s deer feeder” from bridge city or somewhere from the golden triangle. Anyways, the THIN galvanize sheet metal rusted out the bottom of the feeder and I had to cut 4” out of it to find good metal.

I welded in 3/16” plate on the bottom and converted the timer to a Krivoman directional unit. I ordered some yeti style latches from amazon to keep the lid on. I also ordered a lamco solar panel. I also cut 2’ off the legs to make it an easy fill.

Everything got primed with some bull’s eye plus and a fresh coat a Latex paint. I didn’t do the best on taking photos but the end product turned out good. Pics to follow.

Nice work. I have a family friend rehabbing one for me that had the same thing happen. Wet feed kills galvanized metal. I’ll be painting the inside to help inhibit the rust as an experiment.

I plan on straddling my feed pen with the feeder so I can fill it from the outside edge.

Yes sir, it was a mess. The inside got a fresh coat of paint also.

                      Good job.

Hurricane blew off my heavy krivoman lid full of protein
Rusted it out before I got it emptied. Ruined my mechanism.
I have to buy new hammer and snouts. Next winter project when I
Get it from the lease to my property.

Thanks! I am happy with how it turned out. I shot some rattle can clear over the acrylic paint to try and help with fading. I hope I don’t have to repaint this feeder for a Long time.

I am ready to fire that directional feeder up to see how far it slings. Not a lot of action shot videos out there... it will also be pretty cool not having to drive in feed pen to fill this dude.
