    Baby Boomers deciding risk?

I saw a pretty good point on another forum.

Why is it that baby boomers, the ones that took the entitlement pill, decide our fate and what risk we can take?

The same ones that smoked with the car windows rolled up with kids inside or blew smoke in the face of everyone at restaurants.

I’ve heard this virus is as bad as the 1918 pandemic, nope !

In 1916 the average U.S. life expectancy was 49 years old for men, 54 for women. That means most of the folk it took were relatively young and healthy.
In 2016 the average U.S. life expectancy was 78.4.

This virus is taking for the most part those most probably with life extended by medications or the ease of life.

Whilst any life is precious, if you are in the risk category it is plain darn selfish to risk the fall of society just so you don’t catch it.

    Like freedom, everyone be free?

Old folks take some personal responsibility to mitigate their risks and shelter in place until it passes? Or choose not to and accept whatever may come?

I'm kinda starting to lean in that direction. Our Lt Gov (70's) made a pretty good statement about what HE would be willing to chance so we don't leave his/our grand kids a 3rd world, impoverished ***hole.

I'm a "boomer" and certainly believe I can wash my hands and take the necessary steps to stay healthy!

My last shift at work we were told that 12 people in our city had it or symptoms of it and decided they would stay at home and deal with it one way or another.
It would be nice if a whole lot more people would do the same.

The smoking and what not is because we didn't have all the research we do today. I rode on the back window dash as a kid looking up at the stars. Things have changed the last 60 years are so. I'm just not sure it is for the better. I'm 65 and not scared of the virus, but I do take precautions.

We need to keep as many boomers around as possible to provide a roof, meals or a little financial grease now and then to their self centered offspring.

We have been trying to do our best at work to stay home if we have symptoms. The company thinks if you dont have a fever you are good.

An 1/8 of the people in my control center are corona positive with 5 more waiting on results. Some havent hardly had any symptons.

There is enough evidence to suggest the “jackasses” as you describe them, IE grandchildren and such aren’t in enough risk to cause a third world nation.

So the “jackasses” would be the folk that are at risk and try to stifle everyone else.

I can say this because I am a Boomer, but I ain’t selfish

A crisis always reveals the ugly side of human nature. This thread is evidence - the hatred, blame and finger pointing is evolving beyond political to inter-generational? Sheesh...Until we realize we are all made from the same crooked human timber - different experiences, different outlooks, different mistakes, but with the same common future, we cannot pull together. I have faith we will get there.
