    First Vegas Trip

I'm sure there have been post about this, but I couldn't find what I was looking for with a quick search.

I am taking my first Vegas Trip this week. We leave Saturday and come back on Tuesday. I think we are staying at Cesar's, I honestly have done zero planning. I don't have anything against gambling, but I will probably not gamble all that much.

What the must do's and must eats? Best shows?

Oh yeah, do they have Uber to take you from the Airport to the hotel?

Is it worth the half day it would take to go to the Hoover Dam?

Most Hotels (I believe Caesars does) has a shuttle from the airport to the hotel free of charge. Going without a plan has proven to be my favorite trips out to Vegas. People watching is a must!!! Go downtown to Freemont street great area to see all kinds of odd-folks.... The Stratosphere tower has a great view of the city during sunset. Caesars palace (Use to I think still does) has a 3 story toy store that is pretty cool to see. They had a piano the like the one from the Movie Big on the floor.

Best time I had (been 10-12 times) I got up one morning, and walked in and out of every casino on both sides of the strip. Ate, Drank and had fun. Took all day.

There are always great shows. Make sure to tell the concierge you are on your honey moon when you check in. (even if you are not) You can always score a free dinner or shows... DO NOT GO TO A TIMESHARE MEETING FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!

Yes, they have Uber. And I would recommend Carrot Top. Funny guy.

Yes, definitely use the search feature. Many past threads on here about Vegas.

Last time we were in Vegas 2 years ago, Uber was available at both the airport and the major hotels/resorts. The only issue was the Uber pick-up locations could be a bit difficult to find at times. Apparently, there was an agreement reached with the cabbies that Uber pickup locations could not be at the hotel main entrances. Most were located in the sides and backs of places. Still not a big issue as hotel/resort employees were happy to point you to the Uber pick-up location if inquired.

For a first time Vegas trip, Caesars is a good place to stay. It's pretty much centrally located on the strip and there's tons of eating places and shopping within walking distance. There's a huge indoor shopping area connected to Caesars as well. Heck, you could spend the better part of a day just walking between Caesars, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, etc., just people watching and sight seeing. The Bellagio always has an awesome seasonal display in their atrium area that is free for all to walkthrough and view.

Gambling is not cheap on the strip, but it doesn't sound like that's the main thing for the trip. Be sure to take in a few shows. The "O" at the Bellagio is spectacular. Feel free to call up the Caesars concierge desk. They will be happy to get you a list of shows and assist with tickets.

Last thing. Bring a full wallet. Vegas these days is anything, but cheap. Even if you don't gamble much. Good shows are easily $100-200 per ticket; dining is good, but expensive as well.

Hoover Dam is definitely worth it.
            I second the "O" recommendation.
The people watching is awesome-- get a table at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. If you go at night there's a great view of the Bellagio fountains.

Mesa grill in Caesar's is good but expensive. I haven't seen the Absinthe show but everyone we know loves it, right outside Caesar's. Sticky toffee pudding at Hell's kitchen is one of the best things I've eaten, also right outside Caesar's. Also a breakfast buffet in the hotel that is amazing. There is good food and entertainment everywhere you go. None of it is cheap though.

They have Uber but it has been a serious pain when we tried to use it. Hard for you and the driver to find each other. There are taxis waiting everywhere so we just stick to them. They're a lot less rude and stinky than they used to be.

X3 on the "O" at Bellagio. We been to vegas several times and have seen the "O" twice. KA at MGM was a phenomenal show also. The hoover dam is a must see and red rock canyon is awesome for sight seeing. We rented a car and drove out to red rock canyon one day and hoover dam the next. What you will pay in uber fees for a few days you can rent a car for or maybe cheaper. We went this past Thanksgiving weekend.

Battista's for Italian is right off the strip. Can cut through the Flamingo to get there. Free table wine.

Hoover and red rock both good. KA and O are both good shows.

Pre book a shuttle bus from the airport to your hotel. Best most economical option.

                    Fremont St. For sure.

Too many great food spots and shows for recommendations. Just search and plan or fly by the seat.

The video poker bars are your friend. Ask the drink policy up front. Most are 20.00 in the machine equal free drinks. Tip them a 10 and say keep em coming please. My wife and I have drank free for two hours this way. Well not free but just tips.

Absinthe at Caesars is the best show in Vegas. Also, only take Uber... NO taxis.

Yes, use Uber/Lift after you land. The cost of a taxi is $27 flat to Ceaser's, U/L are half that.

I had a steak at the Palms(in Ceaser's) last month it was pretty good. But, I would try the other steak house next to the sports book on my next trip.

They have a bubble craps game kind of by the sports book. It's an easy introduction to craps.

We just use cabs most of the time they drop off and pick up at entrances where as Uber at some places can’t pick up at front of casinos. We go every year and stay there mostly. Absinthe is a pretty cool show saw it last year. Caesars has a ton of stuf you could stay there the whole time and be ok. Big mall attached to it with high end shops lots of places to eat. Big food court as well for late night stuff. Carmine’s Italian in the shops is pretty good. Mess grill is good. Great atmosphere and steaks high end at STK in the cosmo. We rented a car one day from enterprise for like $40 and drove to Hoover and the west Grand Canyon site, my wife wanted to, and she went last year it’s usally just us guys. I don’t regret it we left at 11a and got back probably 830 or so did Hoover **** for a little bit but spent most of time at Grand Canyon. The west side one is on a Indian reservation but has some decent overlooks and they have the skywalk and it wasn’t that far of a drive maybe 2 hrs if that.. also hanging out down on Fremont is a must cheaper down there too.

You tube a few gambling card games. Three card poker is Ez to learn and fun. Go downtown and people watch. Wear sunglasses to keep you out of hot water.
