    ar lower malfunction

Howdy folks, I'm new to ar's. I bought my first from someone here but it will only shoot 1 round. It chambers the next round but there is no new trigger reset. Bolt is forward. Any ideas? I got another upper and it does the same thing when coupled with the lower. I lubed the lower also.

I'm not an AR expert, does the hammer set?

I have an AR 10 that does the same thing. I am able to push the trigger forward slightly and it will reset. Hopefully someone on the GS has a quick fix...

It is most likely the disconnector. Quite often just a drop of oil on it will help, but if that isn't the case for you, you can do a little filing either the little ear on the hammer or the disconnector itself. Have a look here:

Just buy a nice drop in trigger set and I bet it works fine and will shoot better.

This. It will solve your problem and improve your trigger. Can be had for under $100

I bought my larue trigger group for like $80. It was worth the money.

JP Enterprises Trigger Spring Kit AR-15 3-1/2 lb Reduced Power - About $15

I have put the above spring kit in both of my AR lowers.

The result has been a very good trigger pull and complete reliability.

On my second AR lower, I did put one of the springs in the wrong way and got results much like described in the original post.

Fortunately, I had my original AR lower to look at & see what I had done wrong. It was an easy fix.

Could be spring install wrong. I put one in upside down and it would do that. Should be a easy fix.

Thanks for the help folks. It turned out after a few minutes of pulling it apart and looking at a trigger group installation vid that the hammer spring was upside down. After depressing the trigger and then resetting the hammer, the trigger now resets. Look forward to shooting more than a single shot.
