I’m hunting in South East Oklahoma this year. What is everyone putting out for there deer? I’ve never created a mineral site at our deer leases so this is new to me.

Agree with above the 30-06 is hands down the best. Most other minerals are almost nothing but salt and the deer get nothing from it. 30-06 has some salt but it also has calcium and phosphorus which are needed for horn development. We feed it out of a creep feeder and have had great results but they do recommend mixing it in the dirt. You can order it online from Whitetail Institute.

I don’t know about that. There are several different ones made by purina, ADM, lissey eckle and others that have varying amounts of calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, selenium, magnesium and potassium.
There’s a difference between all the BS attractants that academy sells and actual mineral you get from feed companies.Last edited by kyle1974; 02-17-2020, 09:43 PM.

I agree with the above. You have to try several to find what your deer respond to. We've tried Whitetail institute, ani-logic, big n j and some others not so well known. Including some from feed stores. Big n j won hands down in our area. Other areas deer respond better to 1 of the other 2. Or something else. Get a few and experiment.
