    Carcass Cam!

Ive been wanting to put a camera up on a deer carcass for a while. I was really surprised at the number of other deer that came to check out what was lefted.

    Cool
They’re a very curious animal, maybe saying good bye to their friend too

Interesting.I put a camera over a gut pile from a doe I shot on the last day of the season. In addition to the usual suspects - crows, buzzards, etc - I was surprised to see how many deer came to check it out. The hogs eventually cleaned it up not even leaving a wet spot.

A carcass like that would not last long on our place before the hogs and yotes cleaned it up! Maybe a few hours!

Yep. And one of the bucks has never shown up at my feeder which is about 400 yards away.

              Use it instead of corn

Buzzards and cara caras at ours immediately
Gut piles you might see every specie on the ranch in S Tx overnight

                Thanks fir sharing

I had no pics of hogs which is surprising. I know they are in the area.

Cool pics. Thanks for sharing them. Lots of fun getting pics like these.
Try securing the carcass so it cannot be dragged off. Yotes are famous for that and Eagles try to fly off with whatever they can grab. Take a survey spike, hammer it in the ground a bit and then drop the rib cage over the spike, impaling it. Birds can fill up a 32gb card real fast.

That nubbin buck I got off the fence the other day, took it and drug it maybe 10-15 yds into the trees/thick brush at my hog hunting area the other day and setup a game cam hoping to keep it away from buzzards and get hog/coyote pics. Yesterday I drove past and couldn't believe those darn buzzards were walking into the brush to get to it. Probably have 4k pics of them. Ill check it in a day or 2. I even threw a dead coon out in the field nearby to let them focus on that.

Interesting, I’m going to have to do that one of these days.

I have a short piece of cattle panel that I lay over the carcass and stake the ends down, it is harder for the critters to drag it away, and you get a ton of pictures.

We did the same thing to a pig carcass and had pics of pigs chewing on the bones as well as deer licking on the bones. Possums love to hang out at the gut/carcass piles as well. Surprisingly not but 1 yote the whole time it was out.

                              Those are good ideas.
I'm going back to the lease in a few weeks, if I shoot a pig I'm going to try to secure the left overs.
