    Samick sage question

So I bought my nephew a sage and it came with an elevated plastic tab rest. He wants to shoot off the shelf like I do so does anyone know if they come centershot or past center and what are your recommendations on putting the rest and striker plate. Thanks in advance

Did you just put Velcro on? No build up on the striker plate

I’m not sure if centershot measurement, but you can just use the fuzzy side of Velcro for the rest and side plate, and shoot it off the shelf.

You will not have to build up your strike plate, but you will have to play with your arrow to get it right for that setup.

Yes the fuzzy velcro. That adds a bit to the side and your shelf cut will measure closer to 1/8th past.

The sage is past center. The Bear hair/carpet rest with leather strike plate is the rest kit I recommend for the sage if you are looking to buy.

^ That's what I used and it shoots well. What poundage of bow is he shooting? I found the 2016 arrows show well with my #40 (but I draw to 31.5", so that's more in line with a #45), and the 1916's shot well when I used the #30 limbs (but again, it was more like #35 with my draw).

                    He’s shooting 40lbs. He has about a 26” draw

I was going to start him with gt trad 500 arrows full length with about 200 gr up front

Is it a 40@28 bow that he is drawing 26”, or is he drawing 40# at his draw length. If the bow is 40@28, and he is only drawing 26”, that .500 spine arrow will likely be way too stiff.
