    TPWD rainbow trout

This afternoon my son and I took advantage of the TPWD stocking program at Eisenhower Park just outside of Houston. We caught our limit and had an absolute blast. He had never caught rainbow trout so he was glad to check another species off his list.

Noah loves to catch and cook so when we got home and cleaned them, we put a few on the grill. They were amazing.

I love when they start stocking those bad boys.
I catch and cook several limits every winter. They aren't huge but it's just better because fresh is best.
      Congrats y'all.

Man, we went yesterday and couldn't catch a fish to save our life! I had one bite in 2 hours! We were down at Tom Bass Park at 288 and Beltway. We tried corn, yellow power bait, pink bower bait. Used 4 lb line. Don't know what the deal was.

We’re using salmon egg sized hooks and a split shot weight about 2.5-3’ above the hook. A Carolina rig of sorts. The pink and green power bait have worked for us best. The crappie bites don’t float and don’t seem nearly as effective.

Fish #2 and she’s hooked now!

Bullfrog Pond is just outside of Manor near Austin. I love going and catching a mess of trout. I may go this Friday. I try to go during the week when it is less crowded.

I think Mont Belvieu is stocking the park pond over there this weekend.
