    DCNF Question

I’m going to venture out tomorrow and more this week while I’m off and get some different scenery. This will be my first time out and I’m pretty well caught up on regs and rules.

My main question is parking. Is there a designated area for hunter parking or how does that work?

    Nope. Pull off and hunt.

So long as you are parked on Natl Forest land then go do your thing!

      Good luck!

Thanks guys. Looking forward to my first trek. Have a few spots picked out just from looking over aerial and topo. Maybe something will be moving.

I'd find what looked like a trail leading into the forest and park off to the side. If memory serves me, you just can't park somewhere that would impede traffic on roads, so the sides of the roads should be ok.

ThTs what I didn’t know. Parking areas or next to trails or just pull off in the ditch and head in.

Just remember, you can't actually drive in there.

Man I can give you 2 locations where I've spent 15 hrs on stand the last 2 days with only a spike passing by to show for it. Every year DCNF or ANF late season kicks my butt. I've read from garguy on here that they are serious about running hogs with dogs there. That's no joke I saw 2 different groups today with dogs. I would be scared letting my dogs loose during gun season

Good luck buddy. Little bit of a second rut going on now. Find a thicket and crawl in early

Thanks for the pointers. I’ve never stepped foot on DCNF, but as dead as my farm is, I need some new scenery. Deer sightings can’t get any worse. I’m going in blind. Just did some aerial scouting and popped a few pins and heading to one in the morning. Then may scout a couple of other spots. Maybe I’ll have beginners luck. Lone Wolf and sticks are packed up and ready to climb.

Good luck. Don’t leave any valuables behind.

More than likely. Wife talked me in to staying home today with New Years Eve and all that. Probably going to go out Thursday and Friday, or even through the weekend. Really wanting to get a few more bow sits in before I have to pull out the muzzleloader.
