    Pulsar Trail XQ38?

Anybody had any experience with this model?

    Pros?
    Cons?

    Lightly used value?

What looking I did showed $2800-3000 new

    Appreciate any input

    I’ve got one.
Pros: in that price range I think it’s about as good as they come. Battery packs, internal recording, PIP and 2.1 is just about the perfect base zoom.

It’s not a 640 unit but the image is still pretty dang good.

They are good units. But I’d personally go with the XP version of any trail. Better imaging. Cost a lil more but you will enjoy it more.
My buddies have the XP50 Trail and they are fantastic. Get used several times a week. I ordered a thermion XP50 last week. Just waiting for it to come in And start playing

I have the Trail XQ38 and a Core RXQ30V. If you're hog hunting, it has a good field of view. If you're mainly coyote hunting, you may want a bit bigger base magnification. Check out www.thelatenightvisionshow.com for reviews and comments. Episode 79 was on the best thermal scopes under $4K https://youtu.be/BIxEfztEv2Q

        I'm pleased with mine.

Well it is an XQ that is being offered, not XP so there is that problem

Just to be clear, I am not buying new. This is something that popped up through friend of a friend kind of thing
It is what it is and I am trying to see if it is a good enough deal to make me want to buy or pass
Used cars you can research and get an idea, hard to research used pricing on a thermal, at least for me.

If I was buying new I would be talking with Jason for sure

I have a cousin that has the XQ38 and for what its worth he really likes it. Said on good humidity nights he can ID out to 250-300 yards. No problems with it so far.

The Trail XQ38 has been the most popular, best selling thermal scope for 3 years running. It's an excellent all around scope and it's sweet spot is 30-125 yards with 150-200 yard shots being reasonable in good conditions and 250 yard shots being do-able from time to time but not something you'd want to do every night.

The XQ38, along with all the Trails, (excluding the LRF - laser range finders) are being discontinued as of December 31st. The new price is $3,299. Used prices are normally 20-25% under new prices assuming they are in excellent condition. There is no warranty transfers to the second owner, the 3 year warranty is only for the original purchaser.

For anyone looking, as of right now I still have a have a few small shipments of Trail XQ38 and XQ50's coming into stock. The XP units are already out of production.

                  Good luck!
