So my dad and I had a mule deer trip booked this week for a 4 day mule deer hunt out near Sanderson. It wasnt guided, only furnished cabins on site were provided. We booked through someone who hunts the ranch and directly paid the land owner for the hunt. Dad was going to fly in and drive over with me Tuesday afternoon. Late Sunday night I got a call and found out my dads mother passed away that evening. Naturally the hunt was cancelled on our end. I called the gentleman I booked thru Monday morning and left a voicemail. He called back tuesday and I missed his call. He simply said to call him back, but he is hunting on the ranch all this week so really no service to get ahold of him. Would death of immediate family generally qualify for a refund? We paid in full so hoping we can get our money back as I move out of Texas and this hunt will become much harder next year if he allows us to atleast rebook. What are yalls thoughts?

I definitely see your side with the loss and those special circumstances. But I also see that he has now lost the ability to sell your spot so he stands to lose significant income that may be important to him. I would think you guys could come up with a compromise but I don’t think he is obligated to do so. If he gives you a refund that would be noble off him.
