    Auto glass insurance!

Had a rock hit my windshield a while back and dinged it pretty good. The first freeze we had started 3 cracks that are getting longer by the day. I checked my policy and there is a $500 deductible. Got 3 quotes and can get it replaced for $225!

Insurance is pretty worthless for glass coverage. If you went through the insurance the same windshield is probably $725.

If you have full coverage, glass chip repair is usually free.

Same here. Insurance wants the $500 deductible. Safelite wants $400+. Small local glass company will do it for well under $300.

Safelight is expensive even with their aftermarket glass. They quoted $450 for OEM and $375 aftermarket for my F150. I was convinced I needed OEM. Hogwash. Called independent guy and he replaced with aftermarket for $190. Couldn't be happier. I cannot tell any difference.

Had a guy come to the house to replace one, a receipt fell out of his van for the one he put in. Price for the glass was 27$. Paid him 175$.

That’s who our fleet company uses and their policy is go back with oem. My windshield cost them $600+ for a 2015 ford

My insurance policy covers repair and replacement of glass. I believe it cost me a $50 deductible.

I replaced my 2018 glass for $300. No filing claims. Saved $200 from deductable.
Cheaper to have a cash price.

Hope you guys know if your deductible is too high it is your fault. Call your agent and change it. It will cost you more money but you do have a choice

Need to ask your agent about glass buyback if they offer it. It’s really cheap to be added on its somewhere around $3 a month and it’s only a $99 deductible.

I work in insurance, most companies are doing away with the smaller glass deductibles. A few still offer it. If they don’t it’s just covered under comprehensive which usually the lowest deductible offered is $250, some companies still do $100

That’s why I pay the local guy $20 to prevent the dings from turning into cracks. 6 years and same windshield.
