    Car Dealer/appraiser help needed

    Hi everyone,

So in October, I was involved in an accident where I was not at fault. My 2019 Tundra was hit broadside and sustained significant damage. The repairs are being performed by arguably the best collision repair facility in the Beaumont area (Vins Paint and Body) and I have no concern with the repairs being done 100%. The repairs are nearing $17k. Before the accident, I was already contemplating selling the truck and moving up to an F250 and I still plan to do so. Understanding the repairs resulting from the accident, the value of my truck is going to take a significant hit (no pun intended).

Are there any greenscreener's with professional vehicle appraisal experience that can help me with an idea of what type of loss in value I would be looking at? I have gotten agreement from the other party's insurance (AllState) for a diminished value claim but I have to wait until the truck is completed before I can make that claim. In the meantime, I am trying to gain a better understanding of what I will be dealing with as far as post-repair value and a fair diminished value settlement.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I love doing appraisals against Allstate -- it's become a major part of what I do.

        Most recent results:

$5,900 in a diminished value vehicle claim, up from the $650 that the good hands folks initially offered my client.

$68,000 on a property claim appraisal for a roof, up from the ZERO dollar estimate that Castle Key (also Allstate) initially offered

Unfortunately, Allstate has taken the position that they value their shareholders over their policyholders.

Let's just start with the idea that you should have to wait until the repairs are done to determine the loss of value that you have suffered.

This is simply nonsense dribble that the adjusters parrot out of their useless beaks.

Is there frame damage? if so, it is likely that they are trying to avoid declaring the vehicle a total loss. From their point of view, it's much better for you to be stuck with the truck than them.

There is a group out of Houston, and I appologize I don't have there name and contact info anymore, but diminished value claims is all they do. I hired them when my wife's jeep got wrecked, cost $350. They came and looked at it after repairs complete, and put together about 20-30 page reports with pictures and comparable vehicles from the area with a diminished value of $3600. The insurance wouldn't pay it, offered $600. The diminished value company told me to lower the 3600 to 3200 but still no pay. They then told me go file against the driver of the other vehicle that caused the accident and if it went to court they would represent me in court. They pretty much guaranteed it wouldn't go to court. Sure enough the insurance company called me the day before court and wanted to know what we could do to settle out of court. I told them check in my hands that day for 3600. They cut check that day and I picked it up.
