    2019 Handgun Hunting Thread

I know handgun hunters are a minority so maybe this thread is a 'one and done' thing this year. But...I also know the interest is growing and that there are several on here.

So, how about this specific thread for just handgun kills? Anything with a short barrel is fair game. Deer, hogs, coons, squirrels, etc.

Also, this is a challenge to the rest of you to try something new this season. If you've got the hankering, pull that old .357 (or whatever) out of the safe and start carrying it with you. When that old doe or cull steps out at whatever your comfort range is, give handgun hunting a try! You might like it.

I’ll kick it off with a doe I shot last weekend. 40 yard shot with my Ruger SBHH in .41 magnum.

Thanx, I re-built the Blackhawk about 4 years ago.
I still can’t draw back my bow or shoulder my rifle yet, but I can get the handgun up.

I’ve really been wanting to take a deer with a pistol but haven’t been hunting much in the last few years due to work and my kennels. I may try and get out soon. Good luck to all of you!!!

I'm in on this. I worked up a good load for my 30-30 Contender with 125 gr bullets, been wanting to get a pig with it.

I'm in, had the right deer stopped at ~15 paces last week my judge would have spoke.
                (using hornady flex tip ammo)
Last year I scored a doe with my glock 10, so this year it's the Judges turn.

My scoped 44 redhawk might find its way out of the gun safe this year too.
I also use a .308 striker from time to time, but that's stretching what we call a pistol

I bought an RIA TAC Ultra 5", 10mm, 1911 this past year to serve as my backup out on the lease for deer, hogs, etc. Practiced with it comfortably out to 50 yards shooting clay pigeons.

Had it holstered and ready to go this past Saturday and I had a buck come in close and fast to the blind- no time to get the rifle out without getting busted so I eased out the 10mm and made a 27 yard shot that dropped him in his tracks.

200gr XTP retained 91.5% weight, traveling through the top front shoulder, lungs, angling up through the spine and resting up under the offside hide.

                        Awesome report.

Was that with a hand-load or factory ammo?

I guess this one qualifies as well since it was taken this summer. Hog with my Smith PC 10.5” 460.
