    308 accuracy help...

I'd like to shrink my groups down. The following is what I'm getting at 100 yds with my Tikka T3x 308. I bedded it in a Bell and Carlson stock. I'm using Warne rings and a Swarovski Z3 3-10x42. Everything is torqued to spec. The barrel is not getting too hot.

What other ammo should I try. I prefer hunting ammo rather than target ammo. Unfortunately, I don't reload and have no plans to.

    The good:

    Hornady 178 Eld-x: 8 shot group @ 7/8"

    Federal 150 TSX 5 shot group @ 1.25"

Black hills match 168 boat tail hollow points 5 shot group @ 7/8"

    The bad:

    Hornady whitetail 165 interlock 7 shot group @ 3"

    Nosler 165 accubond 5 shot group @ 2"

    Federal Fusion 165 5 shot group @ 2.5" group

Call Copper creek ammo and have them make you up a test load pack. Also ask for a modified case and get the COAL.

You’ve got to stick with match grade ammo

My tikka loved the 150 bthp hornady bullets with some 4064...cant remember the exact grains right off hand.. Factory ammo wise I second the match grade...super x shot good but with around the 1" mark

Looks to me like that 178gr ELD-X ammo is really good for 8 shots, I believe that you should back out the target to 200 and 300 yards with that ammo and see what a 5 shot group does.

Don’t guess, verify. Just call and order the test pack ^^

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a test pack doing for me? Would I have to order handmade ammo afterwards?

I was hoping I could find something off the shelf that would shoot a little tighter. Is that a pipe dream?

Black Hills makes a 175 ELD X that shoots exellent in my custom 308. Also copper creek makes a 168 TTsx and a 178 ELD X both shoot very well

Am I being unreasonable for a factory rifle?

Not at all. What size groups are you wanting to produce? Plenty of factory hunting ammo options that will shoot MOA or better.

Was really hoping to find a 165 gr hunting bullet that would do 5 shot 1/2" groups
