I got some of this from the Co-Op In Clarksville a couple weeks ago. Starting to come up nicely.

Rye hands down. Fool proof. I am not talking about rye grass. Cereal grain rye.

They say it will grow on concrete darn near. Best frost tolerant.

Go on youtube and do a search on "Whitetail Habitat Solutions" or "rye for deer" and watch some of those videos

Here is the plus. 50 lbs of seed runs about $18 a bag.

Rye grass does nothing for your soil or the deer. No till is the best way to go. If you have access to a no till drill I would spray the area with glyphosate and then drill in clover, cereal rye (different from rye grass), and oats. If you don't have a no till drill spray the area with glyphosate, shred the grass/brush, spray again if needed in a week, broadcast clover into the thatch and let rain push the seed in the soil or roll the thatch so seed is at the right depth.

That's the mix I mostly planted in my 1 acre plot. Then did some clover and peas in some of the areas. I did plant one area of purple top turnips and radishes to see how they would do.

We plant perennial clovers and throw-n-grow in Hopkins county, with decent results.

You're going to love what the daikon radish will do for your organic matter in your soil.
