    Leather wallets

About 2 months ago I was looking at some of the guys on here making some leather goods: knife sheaths, I think I remember a belt and a few other items.

It was still the summer and I went to Tandy Leather with my daughter to do a father and daughter project. Since then I have made several wallets. I am almost 50 and have traditionally carried a normal wallet but in the past year I have tried to get away from carrying a large wallet. So I made myself a “minimalist” type of wallet that I could carry in my front pocket.

The first was not very good. I actually made 4 of then and each time getting better and better. Now I just finished this one. It holds just cards. Actually this one is for my brother in law.

I don’t see any pics, but I’m on my phone.

If I can figure it out being 49 then anyone can post pics...I like a simple bifold but it needs to be big enough to carry Hunting Lic, 3-4 cards & cash.

Bet I been using the same leather wallet for over 15 years. It was a NRA stamped (no longer can be seen) found at a local gun show.

That looks really nice. I, too, wanted to try my hand at making wallets. I had a hard time coming up with a design I liked. I did make a few but didn't like them. Then I saw some guy on YouTube who had made a wallet, and he was trying to sell it. But rather than buy it, I just made myself one, and I like it well enough. Then I put it through the washing machine and ruined it, so I made another one, and I like that one, too.

And with 6 cards in it it is the thickness of my IPhone. The first several weeks I had to get used to it because when i put it in my front pocket I would forget it was in there.

Very nice, will it hold more than six cards?

There is one pocket on each side and I can get two cards in each, then there is a center that I currently have 2 cards in. I think I can get 3 into that but 7 cards is really the max for this size wallet.

I just save an old pair of boots. Get 4 wallets per pair of boots. Had this one for a good many years (15+?) and never wore it out. Took a few minutes to make, the only stitching I had to do was the l-shape on the edge. the rest was already on the boot. Spending less on a wallet lets me put more inside of it I reckon.....

Promise i'm not cheap or anything

One of the things that I have seen that is really “in” is the repurposing of things. That is really cool.

Also thanks for all the compliments. I am going to make a bifold next
