    Stock Repaint

Thought I’d try my hand at the custom stock painting game. Went with the Skre Gear Summit pattern to match my new Camo I pick up at the Hunters Extravaganza. What y’all think about it??

What paint did you use to get the texture?

Cant speak for the OP but I have done several rifles over the years in a simular style. Use Cerakote and Duracoat and sponges.

Here's one that I did with Duracoat and tried to mimic the colors of Gameguard. This is very effective in West Texas.

There isn't alot of black in mother nature and as this pic shows it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Well I started with a factory green stock on my ruger predator, black, tan, white, john deere green, and matte clear coat from the camo paint section of Walmart, and a 99 cent shower sponge from wall mart Dusted it with a light partial coat of black, then dusted over that with a little heavier coat of tan, leaving all three colors visible. Now for the technical part. Spray John deere green, black, white, and tan paint onto a paper sack from braums. forming large puddles of these colors. Dip the sponge into the each color individually and apply liberally over the entire stock. I would recommend starting with the darker colors first and finishing with white. After that dried I applied 4 coats of mate finish clear coat.

Looking back at it I wish I would have used some sort of geometric cut out pattern and sprayed some gray and brown sections on the lower half of the stock and faded up the barrel of the stock into the pattern that I ended up with as I think that would have looked more like the actual SKRE pattern. But I like it as is, especially for my first attempt.
