Best time of year to stock crappie

What is the best time of the year to stock crappie in a pond. Is it too hot right now?

    Thanks

I have always read you should never put crappie in a pond.

Stock fish in the spring, there is a reason Mother Nature does it that way.

I would think winter time would be best.

How many acres is the pond? I would go with bluegills instead.

True or not idk but someone was telling me that if your pond will hold water all year round tpwd will stock your pond. No clue if it's true but may look in to it.

Historically, the best time to stock fish is Fall/Winter

I’ve stocked in spring the last 2 years with good success. Our pond is just over an acre with half of it being 20 to 35’ deep, which I believe helps. It’s also spring fed

The heck with the pond! I'm gonna stock my freezer with-em, if I stock anything!

Stock in the fall or spring, depends on availability from the Hatchery, stock black crappie, they reproduce mostly males, I put them in my pond in Bay City, it’s small only about 3/4 acre
                        No problem

Same here. It is also really hard to find them any time other than the fall or winter. We pump minnows in ours in the summer months and crappie every other fall.

Also if you do not take them out, they will over populate quick

They are prolific so as stated above, you have to take a lot out. Also one acre is really small for crappie, even if it is that deep.
