Priced any bullets yet? Caliber is pretty hard to beat. Supposed to be a little better than 26 Nos from reading. I’ve been interested in that caliber for a while as well. Weatherby makes some nice stuff and they’re proud of it. I ordered bullets from Native outdoors for my 270 Weatherby Mag. I had paid $80 per box before and Mark got me some for $45.
Weatherby is lowering the price on their ammo. Should start seeing cheaper prices soon. I have one and I have killed 5 deer with it. I really like the Aframe factory loads. I have some 129 grain SST’s loaded with 94 grains of US869 that I want to try out this year.

I think its a ultra niche caliber built for guys who shoot ultra long range in hunting scenarios.
I think the global sheep hunters will really take a shine to it, but for 99.9 % of hunters, I can't see the need.
Cost of ammo is somewhat irrelevant, if your going to be shooting a weatherby, you fully expect to pay premium for the ammo.
I thought about it for a split second when I had my last weatherby built but i'm happy with my .257wby so I went for a .300 win mag instead of the 6.5-300....just much more versatile for me

Agreed. That a lot of powder to be shooting max 156gr bullet. Now if you got the big boys too and just want a new toy it will be a laser

Yeah I don’t really need it for any “reasons” lol. I love my 257 and also have a 300 win. My mainstay in that 6.5 ballpark is my 264 win. Hard to beat the old man.

Don't have any hands on experience with the round, but would be interesting to see what it really brings to the table. Based on what we have observed with the 26 Nos and other wildcats with similar capacities, I'm betting your losing a lot of the consistency and stability that you need in a LR hunting round for a little bump in speed that may not provide much real-world advantage. The extra speed might actually become negative on shots that present themselves closer than expected. Ultra niche caliber was a great description above.
Price of ammo argument always makes me laugh when we're willing to sling a $30 arrow set up at a pig that may or may not break lol
Yep these type guns if you shoot 2 boxes of ammo in a hunting season that’s a lot. Lol
I guess plinkers are worried about ammo and they should probably stick to the 6.5 creed since that seems to be the only justification for having one. Ha
Yep. Pay as much or more for a new bow (sometimes every year) as a nice rifle, then rig it out and sling “ammo” that costs $20-$30 each and complain about a caliber that costs $3 per shot.
