POC Guide Recommendation for Kids

My father wants to take out my 13 yr old nephew and 2 of his buddies fishing in POC later this month. Not interested in taking them to the Jetties or fishing with the jetty guides. He wants to take them with someone that fishes bait over grass or shell anchored up. Can anyone recommend a guide that is good with kids? The boys do not have much fishing experience. Would prefer to catch trout or reds.

Is Sledge good with Kids? We used to rent a house across the street from him and he likes to have a good time. Really nice guy though.

There use to be a TBH’er running guided trips out there with a cabin and everything but haven’t heard/seen anything lately

Butch Gerke 979-777-5092. I have not fished with him but he was recommended by a friend who is a fairly well known guide in baffin when I asked about a good all around guide for poc.

Sledge is great with kids. And can handle bait fishing from the boat. Other guides mentioned are more wading or artificial guys fyi. I could also recommend james schuler very knowledgeable as he worked for texas parks and wildlife before.

I’d pm brunner he knows everyone down there and will get you some names.
He speaks very highly of Kenneth Gregory but I can’t say specifically how he is with kids.

I’ve fished with Brunner and both Gregory brothers. I’m pretty sure Brunner has a day job that keeps him away from guiding and the brothers only fish the jetties. Not interested in taking these boys out there to drop bait to the bottom. I had a run in with one of Kenneth’s guides last weekend. He pulled in on us and I could bounce my jig head off the side of his boat. We bit our tongue because he had family with him and I had my 8 yr old daughter.
